Final draw held on 5 December 2025 at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. The top 2 from each group plus the 8 best third-placed sides go through, 32 teams in total to a brand-new round of 32 never seen before at a World Cup.

How teams qualify for the round of 32

48 teams, 32 to the knockout stage

Each group plays 6 matches in a round-robin (everyone vs everyone). The top two of every group (24 teams) and the eight best third-placed sides across the 12 groups advance — 32 teams in total — to the new Round of 32, played from 28 June to 3 July.
